Transitional Housing

Aphesis House, Inc. is a not-for-profit corporation, recognized by the State of Tennessee in April of 2004 as outlined in the Internal Revenue Code 501 (c) (3) and the Tennessee Nonprofit Corporation Act. They work closely with the Tennessee Department of Corrections and the Tennessee Board of Probation and Parole. The Board of Directors and the Advisory Board govern Aphesis House, Inc‘s regular operations and planning meetings are held quarterly.

Aphesis was designed to provide transitional housing for individuals being released from incarceration. The housing facility has a full-time staff, provides meals, and offers job search assistance, a mentoring program, community involvement, recreational activities, and a structured 90 day re-integration program. At the present time we are male only facilities.

Prison staff or inmates in the State’s many corrections facilities mail letters to Aphesis House, Inc. requesting entrance into our program. We send an application along with a contract which details out rules and the required program fees. Upon receiving the returned application we review it and, if necessary, schedule an interview with the inmate. Upon approval, an acceptance letter is mailed. We accept offenders from any county jail or state prison. The only ineligible offenders are those with medical conditions which make them unable to care for themselves.

Housing Requirements

  • We require a minimum stay of 90 days to complete our program. There is no maximum length of stay.
  • Program fees are $100.00 per week to be paid each Friday.
  • Aphesis House, Inc. will assist in locating employment for offenders if they have been unable to secure a job prior to release.

Program funding is from fees collected from the residents residing in the House and private funding sources. Aphesis House is in the process of applying for government and foundation funds.
