Mission Statement |Founder & Mentor |Community Partnership

Dear Community Partner:

Aphesis House, Inc, a not-for-profit agency, is the result of a special calling that God has placed in my life.

My vision is to provide a transitional home, along with a learning program, for men coming out of incarceration, so that they can be taught positive, life changing habits, to allow them to be more productive citizens as they re-enter society.

God blessed us to open our doors in 2003, taking in our first residents in a two-bedroom ranch style house in Madison, Tennessee. In May of 2004 we expanded to our present location in South Nashville. We can now house nine men.

This moved us closer to our ultimate goal of expanding our Aphesis Program. By working closely with the Tennessee Department of Corrections and the Tennessee Board of Probation and Parole, we anticipate opening facilities in Memphis, Knoxville, and Chattanooga.

In making sure that the self esteem and spiritual needs of our residents are being addressed, our Program strives to provide: (1) Healthier lives; (2) The ability to become productive citizens; (3) The ability to become assets instead of liabilities; (4) The ability to become better fathers; (5) Insight into responsible living; (6) The ability to become more dependable and reliable.

Our Aphesis Program offers a full-time staff, meals, job-search assistance, mentoring, community involvement, and recreational activities, along with individual and group counseling sessions.

Therefore, we are asking members of the business community, church pastors, and other community leaders to join in our partnership by helping support this very important initiative by donating time, expertise, and financial support, as we continue to improve and expand the work of Aphesis House.

Sincerely,
James G. Settles
Executive Director
